Cleaning and Repairing

We had some condensation on the ceiling and
we had to mop it...oh dear.  I don't think
we will use the furnace again...oh dear.
Good news is we found the awning.  Ed and Wade
did a great job putting it back up.

We bought Wayne a new tool
box to replace the Michelob box he
had here.  Great garage sale find.

Penny Sale Fund Raiser

Sandpiper has an annual penny sale fund raiser
for a scholarship.  Pirates joined us for the
evening.  The pretty one found Ed and Wade.

Eagle Scout Breakfast

We read an article in the paper about a fund
raiser for this young man working on his
Eagle Scout badge.  He's making picnic
tables and benches for the church.
The church held a pancake breakfast as a
fund raiser for him to buy materials.
Don't have to tell us to come to breakfast, especially
for such a good cause.

Shuffleboard Tournament

Beth made it to the second round
of the annual Women's Tournament.

Tornado Warning

We were under a tornado warning around 1:30 am.
Water was rising in the street and in our driveway.

The next morning the gulf was really churned up
The wind was horrific and we lost an awning.

Beth found a shark's tooth on beach.
Maybe earrings?
Two days later our neighbors found
the awning in the bay and brought it
back intact in their kayak.  Now that's some
pretty nice neighbors.
You can see how far it flew into the bay; over
4 homes without hitting anything...Amazing.

Lunch with MSU cronies at Pop's in Nokomis

We went down to Nokomis to meet with
Joe/Jan Baum and Don/Carmen Warnke

Beth and Jan
 Wade, Don, Carmen and Ed
 Ed, Joe, Wade and Don

Lunch with my sister

Ed and I went down to
Venice and had lunch with
Marlene, Bob, Mike and Tami

I went back the next week and Bob took us
to Marina Jack's.

Lunch with Marge Longridge

We have access to a free trolley here on
the island and we took a ride down to
St. Armand's Circle and met Marge at
the Columbia House for lunch.

Sunrise, sunset

We walk the beach a lot in
the mornings.  This yucca is pretty
amazing and so are Wade and Beth

Beth and I usually take our coffee to the
bay for sunrise; the guys, not so much.
Then the sunset...on the gulf side.  Our slice
of paradise.

Fairborn High School Athletic Hall of Fame

We flew up to Fairborn for Ed's induction
into its Athletic Hall of Fame.  It was a great
weekend with friends and family.  He was nominated
by a former student.  Ed lettered three years in football
and two in baseball.  He was selected to play in the
Ohio All Star game in Canton, OH and went on to play at
Michigan State.  Upon graduation he went back to
Fairborn to teach and coach both football and wrestling.

It was fun for me too, to be back in this gym
where I was a cheerleader.
Sure was nice to have some family with us also.
Two of my sisters grandsons, James and Wesley;
James' two girls Autumn and MacKenzie.  MacKenzie
had an indoor softball game later.  I thought it was
appropriate for her to be in uniform at this event.
More family joined us at the presentation at the
old high school.  My nephew Steve, Brenda and
grandkids Ryland and Ainsley.

The basketball team of 1970 was also inducted.
These guys were in the first graduation class when
Ed taught in Fairborn so it was really nice to
also reconnect with them
Our dear friend and Ed's "little brother"
Barry Hall flew up from Texas to be
with us.
The one who made it all happen, the old
coach, Lloyd "Punky" Williams, a
Hall of Famer in his own right.

Lunch and sunset at the pier

Beautiful and great food before this sunset.  This island is full of
pelicans and his one decided to join us for a late lunch.

Red Barn Flea Market and Pops

We went to the Flea Market for produce and to browse
around before heading down to Nokomis for lunch.
We loved this accordion player for our background
music.
We met our Indiana neighbors, Karen and Marv
for a pot boil.  Red potatoes, onion, sausage, corn,
mussels, shrimp and a lobster tail.

Shuffleboard

We showed Wade and Beth the
finer points of Florida...shuffleboard

Sunset on the beach

Our friends, Wade and Beth Payne
got in today from Colorado and we
all enjoyed a walk to the beach for the sunset.

Anna Maria Pier

We took the free trolley to the pier today.
The boards are dedicated in honor or
memory of various people.

A little hard to read but looked down and
saw The DeVos Family from Grand Rapids, MI
Betsy DeVos will be our new Education Secretary.

Sunrise on the Bay.

 Wait for it
 Wait for it
 Wait for it
 Beautiful morning.
