Brownwood Florida Style

This is the newest Town Square at The Villages.

We often visit Brownwood when in Central Lake, MI

and they now have recreated some of the favorite

spots from there in Florida.

Didn't try the pizza at Ricarrdi's but seeing the sign

brought back memories of going there.

Mardi Gras Parade...Disney style

We went over to Port Orleans French Quarter

and Riverside to watch the Mardi Gras Parade

on Fat Tuesday.  Lots of beads and candy but mostly

fun with friends.

 

Aunt Mary got right into the spirit of things.

 

 

We took the boat from the French Quarter to Riverside

where we viewed the parade.

 

 

 

St. Augustine

St. Augustine is the first successful European

settlement in the United States.  Our nation's oldest city

established 1565. 

 

 

 

 

 

Another National Landmark is the

Basilica-Cathedral.  Completed in 1797

and became a cathedral in 1870; financed largely

by Spanish royal treasury.

 

 

 

This church was erected by Henry M. Flagler,

in loving remembrance of his daughter.  The
baptismal font is one solid piece of marble.

 

We made the best of a really rainy day

in St. Augustine.  So much history

and so little time.  We will go back.  When we get

home you'll notice we missed drinking from the

Fountain of Youth.

 

 

 

 







50 Years of Friendship

We drove down to North Ft. Meyers and met up

with some friends from Michigan State.

Visiting with my sister

We went to Englewood, FL to visit

my sister Marlene and her husband Bob.

A walk on the beach is always in order and

Siesta Key is one of the most beautiful.
