Big Ten Tournament Indianapolis

Our great season was topped off

with a win over Iowa at the tournament in

Indianapolis.  Steve and Linda Juday came

down from "Up North" and we drove together

for the game.  Nice day and not nearly as

cold as 2 years ago.

 Safely home and celebrating our win over Iowa.

Now on to TX for the Cotton Bowl.

Downtown Chicago

We have decided to take advantage of

the great city we live near.  We took the train

into town and visited the Cultural Center and admired the

Tiffany stained glass dome.

 

 

 The Pritzker Military Museum lobby was

recently restored and exposed the beautiful

Rookwood tiles; product of Cincinnati, OH

Bee at the bean.  After some Giordano's Chicago

style pizza and Garrett's popcorn we walked to "The Bean".

It's part of Millenium Park and is a highly polished stainless

steel structure reflecting the Chicago skyline.

MSU 50th Reunion of the 1965-1966 National Championship Teams

The guys had a good time reminiscing.

 

 Ted told some great stories.

 

There was a reception at Cowles House.

It's the home of the President of MSU

On our way to the game we had to stop for

a photo shoot with Sparty

 

75 former players showed up for the reunion

and were announced on the field.  Nice recognition

and a great weekend.

 

 

Motorhome is gone!

We sold the motorhome and

Seth and Lulu came from California

 to pick it up

Ed went over the details, inside and out.

 

Not ashamed to say I had tears in my

eyes but now more relieved than sad.

We shared a lot of good times with good

friends now off to making more memories.

Tom and Judy Visit

Crown Point is famous or infamous for being

the place where John Dillinger escaped jail.

There is a really cool museum here in the old

courthouse downtown.  Judy and I took the tour

while the guys watched football.

 

 

 The Arts commission here in Crown Point

secured an exhibit of Seward Johnson sculptures.

Here is one of my favorite.  I loved the

hula hoop.

                                                

 

That evening we went to Indiana Dunes and

took a nice walk on the beach. 

 

 

On Sunday we went to Oak Park to tour the

Frank Lloyd Wright home and studio.

We can't go anywhere without a tailgate.

This is his home in Oak Park. 

 

The rest of these are homes he designed on

this same street.  Although we mostly think of him

with the "Prairie Style", that isn't all he built and

designed.

 

 

This little structure below was actually a

ticket booth at the 1893 Expo in Chicago. Read

Erik Larson.

 

 

This is the home he designed for his lover

It is also in Oak Park within walking distance.



 

Hate to say goodbye but we had a great weekend.

Visit with Aunt Geneva

So happy to visit with our sweet Aunt and Great Aunt

Geneva Rice, 99 years old and still doing well.

Sherry came over and Molly met up with us

to go to Holland, MI and visit Gee.
